In an earlier episode, Clem built a stop motion animation machine. Now, he takes feedback from animators on the Internet and builds an easy to use, inexpensive version targeted at beginners. Doing little stop motion films with kids and friends is a great hobby, but the cost for professional software is sometimes a hinderance, while most free software supports only webcams. Clem uses a LattePanda single board computer to build a cheap animation rig that allows you to control a good DSLR or mirrorless camera remotely, taking hundreds of necessary pictures for your animation project!

I also have created a very similar system with RPi and a quality webcam myself.

I've developed a GUI just for this project that works with keyboard exclusively, allows direct camera manipulation and use…

    good tipps, and awesome Video.

My cams are always in manual, the dithering you see is the chadow i cast because I did not go far away for every one of the 1500 shots, as I got unpatient + the lower rendering quality needed when compiling to an mp4 for editing. (i just dont have the HP in my rig to process them in 24MP full resolution.

Just following on from your comment about having control over everything.  Blackout curtains and good lights would be my recommendation.

A heavy tripod or some sandbags are also good.

You'll need to set your camera to manual otherwise you will need to do colour correction on each frame of the video.
