The Portal franchise is one of the most engaging puzzle games of the last decade and beyond the mind-bending physics, is also known for its charming A.I. antagonist: G.L.a.D.O.S. Join DJ on his journey to build yet more robotic characters from pop culture as he “brings her to life” with a Raspberry Pi and sure dooms us all. Also, this was a triumph, the cake is a lie.

DJ is still building and refining GLaDOS - Check Out His Latest Progress

I think going for prosthetic eyes would be perfectly creepy. I hope you follow through with this idea. Might be a good push to make some spooky tech in time for Halloween eh?

I can actually make an AI out of that, if it was bigger

A very interesting build. I'm not familiar with Portal or even GLaDOS but there are lots of other robot heads that could be created in this manner. I have wanted to make some sort of robot head recently as I have seen so many after watching many Sci-Fi shorts on YouTube. The eye movements and control are some of the best bits as they can be really freaky to watch. As humans I think we are inherently drawn to focus on the eyes of other people/animals/robots and tend to pay less attention to the rest of the robot/figure. Get the eyes right and you achieve most of the effect.

I worked with the Robothespian robots ( https://www.engineeredarts.co.uk/robothespian ) for a couple of years and when powered on but not actually doing anything their eyes (and head) would follow you around the room - it could be very disconcerting. I have thought of reproducing something similar for some time, probably with just the eyes moving about. Maybe with some real prosthetic eyes!

    Nice build.

It would make a good Halloween prop.
