I agree, I have had mixed results in the past! Admitedly in my case, probably the dirt on the windscreen messing with the FTIR!

An intresting proposition! I wonder if there was a way to benchmark the wide range of CPU / GPU / APU / MCU / FPGA types without an OS? I realise that FPGA doesn't fit well in that, but as I said, I suspect there is some at play here with the image processing?

It is clear that the computing capability of modern automobiles is steadily rising.

I suspect that soon, your car will be the most powerful computing system you own.

I know that my current TV is probably close to being my most powerful processor in the house.

I hope the rain sensors in newer cars are smarter. My 2014 (bavarian) rain sensor is stupid. A light drizzle puts the wipers on fast, even when set to the least sensitivity. Really annoying.

Yes, it could be a challenge! I think there was a sweet spot in time where the ECU and Entertainment unit were the only really smart parts. These days, it's a different beast!
