Nintendo Switch Lite Teardown -- The EIectronics Inside 08

after seeing the insides, I an kinda frusterated. nintendo could have easily made the switch lite much smaller if they pt the battery twards the back insted of sandwitched inbetween the two pcbs. Hopefully some mad lad on here  can jam the switch motherboard into something the size of a 2ds

I completely understand you fustration, I wouldn't class it as "pocket friendly".

It's a tough form factor to work to, think about the Game Gear, PSP and Atari Lynx, they are all approximately this size? I Guess the trade off with the Lite is screen size? Would you prefer a smaller screen or just a camshell design?

Smaller screen, for sure. The thumbsticks stick up too much for a clamshell design (although it may be a good idea to replace the thumbsticks entirely to avoid drift issues)  the switch lite could be REALLY small if the d-pad PCB overlapped the motherboard PCB. Would it be possible to use a ribbon cable adapter and put in like a 3.5 inch LCD screen? or would the display drivers prevent this?

Either way, the case would have to be redesigned entirely.

another thought I had was if the battery was housed behind the PCB's than the battery could be much larger, not to mention if the screen was smaller the battery life would be even more improved just by happy accident. 

I did my own research on this, even going as far ar to message some people whom I would consider experts on this. They all said they didn't know anything about the switch lite LCD. The whole thing seems unprecedented, the closest thing I found is a Gameboy ribbon cable adapter to add a backlight. The LCD ribbon cable on the switch appears to have 53 pins, as most smaller screens have 40 to 50 pins on their ribbon cable. perhaps at least sone of these pins relate to the touch screen, but I doubt it.
