We have all seen them, some probably have one, but has anyone taken their robot vacuum clean apart? Lets go straight in at the deep end with the Dyson 360 Eye!

    I agree with the intent of robots is "little an often". The question is, does 1 Hour 7 times a week for a robot really equate to less electrical consumption that 20 Minutes once a week with a high power…

    Sadly, I can't say I do have any tips! It was a real pain to get off, and I still broke a little piece at the front. Fortunatly, it was only a little piece the wouldn't affect operation?

    Hi - just Hoping you might have a tip on how to remove the cover without too much damage as I am trying to replace a faulty track assembly and have removed every screw I can see, including some hidden ones but to no avail. Thanks in advance. Dave

    I think that the drive behind the legislation was more to encourage product design efficiency. e.g. I recall that some appliances were being sold rated at 2kW but with comparable performance to another 1kW rated device. I suspect that consumers typically opt for the more powerful machine as they assume that it performs the task better.

    I agree with the intent of robots is "little an often". The question is, does 1 Hour 7 times a week for a robot really equate to less electrical consumption that 20 Minutes once a week with a high power vacuum. Although the maths is pretty easy to work out, the subjective nature of how clean each method achieves makes it a bit more of a philosophical question?

    I'd hazard a guess that one advantage of a robot cleaner is that if it is used regularly (e.g. overnight clean) it should be able to pick up the dirt before it gets trodden deeper into the carpet. Presumably if it is monitoring particulate matter in the collection process then it also can detect that it is not picking up any more dust and thus quickly move on saving on energy and carpet wear in the process.

     

    Similar to the robot vacuum cleaner is the robot lawnmower, however I have visions of it taking a wrong turn at some point and heading off down the street being chased by the local dogs... Or the children swap the two for fun and you end up having your carpet mowed and your lawn vacuum cleaned...
