UnBoxing My Gold Uno Mini

8 Feb 2022

I returned home from a day visit to a classic English stately Home (Petworth House - https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/petworth-house-and-park), and a classic English dinner (Bangers and Mash followed by Victoria sponge cake) with classic winter English weather (sunny, misty, brisk, a bit cold) to find a parcel on my doorstep: My classic Gold Uno Mini. Thanks very much classic Element14.

I experienced some difficulty opening the box so needed some help.

It looks very nice and it is definitely mini. I was thinking that I might use this in my latest robot but looking at the 'tiny' holes for connectors (1.2mm?) I'm not so sure. Soldering at that level of 'smallness' might be beyond me and my eyesight. I did notice that it has four small mounting holes - which is nice, as the Nanos I usually use do not.

Maybe there's a low cost mini Uno shield I might be able to obtain somewhere, or soldering super powers! I don't really collect anything much so I will try to use this great gift in something appropriate - and solderable!

Wow, I spent a long time until I managed to get the Arduino Mini out without breaking the box, despite the impatience of my children.

The pitch of the female headers is really small, 0.05", or 1.27 mm. , the pins of the Dupont 2.54mm connectors fit well, but two Dupunt connectors will not fit on two adjacent pins.

Let me know if you figure out some method of making connections. Maybe individual solid core wire might work.
