I spotted these two water-based LED projects recently and thought that they may be of interest.

The first one is impressive, and he is flat out meeting his backers.
I'm intrigued how he gets the water to rotate when leaving the top outlet, as the landing spot is quite small and it seems to be rectangular rather than circular.
The second link is great.
He explains how it was achieved and even talks about the water flow at 4.00 mins in.
The pump is this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-DC-R385-Mini-Aquarium-Pump-Fish-Tank-Motor-Diaphragm-Water-AIR-Pump/192306145009?ssPageNa…
I liked the video he took during his initial trials, and he's definately put some thought into the whole thing.
Thanks for sharing beacon_dave

For CA$20 it appears that you can be enlightened as to the workings as it supplies you with both CAD and code in order to build your own version.
I had assumed that the rotation effect was an optical illusion.

Looks like the kickstarter has completed.
I was looking for the details on how to buy, but I guess he's busy making them.
If he had a link, I think it would be worthwhile.

Ah yes, you appear to be right there. It appears that only campaign backers can still order the design files:
https://northern-circuits.ca/products/aquarius-pcb-design-files-for-kickstarter-backers-only
However...
Will you be selling the design files and/or PCB?
Currently we have no plans to do so. Those were exclusive to the Kickstarter campaign. We may make an exception on a case-by-case basis so please contact us directly if you wish to do so.
Strange how things go in life.
Was watching the movie "Now You See Me 2" when suddenly in the magic shop in Macow there was an almost identical Reverse Rain sitting on the table, and one of the actors interacted with it.
They also claim to use the same strobe effects in the sequence in London, but the link below suggests it wasn't possible on that scale ....

There's a good talk about it here, along with a great breakdown of a Gator Aid video near the bottom.
I also have found one interesting way that you can move water.
At 2:33 into this one, he shows the outlet connected to a speaker cone, which is modulated.

This would give a linear movement which matches the capture aperature in the Aquarius unit.
Cheers

sounds like there may be a chance of your lab bench getting slightly damp
I did order a couple of pumps that I linked.
I do have some strips and it is dark outside ... oops wrong movie
