Challenge for Just Blogs??

We've had some really good knowledge drops in responses to questions like the one on crimped pins a while back.

 

I wonder if there would be interest in side challenges that are "blog only".  (I'm hoping it's not already a thing and I've been missing it.)

 

This would allow one the joy of researching and bestowing to get the same fun feel as physical project challenges even if their days don't permit them to do physical builds.  Perhaps the prizes wouldn't be nearly as big as the physical projects, but something to drive some reasonable effort.  Also, people could resurrect relevant past physical projects into the competition.  The blogs could be judged with a little more alignment on blog structure so they could be premium content for social media features to help grow the community even more.

 

Any thoughts on this?

    In the past, whether its been a contest or a design challenge there have been members have participated in a topic that interests them but they are not doing it for a prize but to encourage participation.  I would just  encourage you to experiment with different formats and topics as long as learning is occurring then its worth doing.

     

    For something like research blog challenge with smaller prizes,  what sort of prize would work?  Would badges or some type of gamification work?   If its research oriented and not physical projects would it make sense to work a contest around a workshop, webinar, or quiz?   As far as resurrecting past projects:

    This was something that was discussed and its perfectly alright to enter in an old project as long as you are up front about the origin and give details such as whether you are updating or modifying an existing project.
