Project14 | Quick Update on Upcoming Competitions + What Would You Like To See Happen In Project14?

Hi all,

I'm very excited to announce we will be setting up two new Project14 competitions with dates coming soon for a Halloween competition and then a Holidays competition to close out the year.

As part of setting up these new activities I would really like to hear as many opinions from as many people as possible.

What have been your favourite themes, prompts and final creations to date?

What would you love to see generally in future Project14 competitions?

What are your likes and dislikes of Project14?

Are there any theme suggestions you think have gone overlooked and would personally love to take part in?

Let me know! :D

Don't forget to turn on forum notifications and join the group if you have not already to stay up to date when we share the full details soon.

Every so often, I like a p14 that focuses on pure electronics. Something that involves only cheap components, and no programming.

I've enjoyed the lighthearted & whimsical projects. Its fun to involve the pets, family, youth, neighbors of the E14 community, and also share some of the member's personality. I do serious stuff at work…

I really like the way Project 14 worked with overlapping themes and schedules. With a new contest theme being started each month, after a couple of months of discussion and voting, and a couple of months…

HI JoRatcliffe I am very happy to see Project14 coming back to life. I especially like themes that result in building something practical that can be used and reused. If we are going to invest in a build, hopefully it can have a useful life of more than one day. Building an electronic test instrument or tool is always going to be very popular. Electronic decorations can be reused each year although they are not as useful as test gear. Electronic or robotic helpers for household chores could also fit the useful genre. Systems that provide useful information are also popular, whether it is local environmental info or detection of local human or animal activity. And then there is control of pests. Combining electronics with other hobbies can be interesting - such as horticulture or sports. We haven't done much with food yet.

I was thinking that perhaps a community oriented project might be worth exploring at some point. Could be tied to an existing community science type project or perhaps linked to STEM activities in schools.

Could also be creative, like an animatronic flower that is linked to environmental sensors so it can react to real world data.
