Question: Connect4 On the Go v2: Should I code in Arduino or STM32HAL

arvindsa

The PCB has been delivered. I got some parts enroute and in that time ive got to thinking. Should I code in Arduino or Should I do in stm32HAL? I have my pros and cons listed. For now my only strong reason to stick to Arduino would be because I intend to make this open source and want others to tinker with it

If you were developing this, why would you choose stm32hal ?

arvindsa I think this is a great question. I agree with you that the Arduino path will get you more people trying it out. Once you complete it on one ecosystem, what is to stop you from making it work…

Your suggestion made me chuckle. Some of my projects have gotten so old I have to upgrade them to maintain them :-)

arvindsa I think this is a great question.  I agree with you that the Arduino path will get you more people trying it out.  Once you complete it on one ecosystem, what is to stop you from making it work on the other?  It has been a LONG time since I used the STMCube toolchain, but I don't remember it being THAT different.    Anyway... my 2 cents. Relaxed

Ah, the person who will stop me from making it work on the other ecosystem is myself. I get the electronics working, then get on the casing, then tweak the code to get the right functionality and then the user experience. Document it. and then i stick to the quite "if it ain't broken, don't touch it"   Smiley

If you want to add the experience to your resumé, I'd go for STM. Else, the one you fancy most.
