Get your spangle decorated electronic baubles out! With extra tinsel!

For some, it's not Christmas until it's been Thanksgiving.

In the UK, shops don't care, it was just before Halloween before we were suffering the Christmas Chocolates out on the store shelves, so what the heck, let's get planning some projects!

What're your Christmas project plans? Maybe they're not exactly for entering the project14 competition, but they could be!

And y'know what, we have named it 'Hack the Holidays', for me that's Christmas, but it's not necessarily Christmas for everyone - I'd frankly love to see other holiday event electronic projects, now there's a challenge!

Whatever you're celebrating, I'm sure there's a project for it.

In past years I always intended to do a holiday specific project, but by the time I was ready to start, it was too late to complete before the holiday was over. This year I'm going to fix all that by not trying to build some ostentatious, grandiose project. I will just keep it small and simple and get started early. Design is done, some parts have already arrived and the last material was ordered last night. The design wasn't aimed at this contest, but it might help fill out the dance card and I can share the manufacturing files so anyone can build one.

    Happy Holiday Projects Everyone!

Levitation, animated wings and a halo that puts on a light show to outdo the XMAS tree?

Holy mindreaders Batman,  Beacon_Dave is a clarvoyant. Actually, those were among some early brainstorming ideas. I also threw out the idea of an automated elf that farts cinnamon, cocoa, and evergreen aromatics :-)

I’m working on a musical Santa Claus.  When it detects a light coming on, or going off, it plays jingle bells.  When it detects a 0.1C change in temperature, it plays jingle bells.  When it detects a movement of air, it plays jingle bells.  Also, randomly within a 15-minute period, it plays jingle bells.  I’m gluing the battery in and the on-switch is one way only.  It’s a pre-Christmas present for my nephew who’s 7: he’s going to love it.
