Traffic Management System

A compact stand-alone system which allows transport providers and law enforcers to manage transport systems efficiently.

image

This project focus to build a complete system for Traffic Evaluation, Management and Monitoring that is capable of relaying the real-time vehicle data (user id, vehicle registration number, vehicle speed, vehicle location etc) into a dedicated cloud for advanced analysis. This allows transport providers and law enforcers to manage transport systems efficiently by accessing the data from the cloud and processing it remotely. The system uses an Arduino MKR IOT board (FOX 1200/ WAN 1300 LORA/ NB 1500/ GSM 1400) for gathering the real-time data from the vehicle using an Arduino MKR CAN Shield module and upload it to a dedicated cloud service such as Arduino IOT. With the help of an attached Li-Po battery the module can be made as an independent system.

    G'Day,

I'm a cynic. 37 years of corporate careers designing, building and implementing IT and Electronic systems has rewarded me with cynicism. I WANT, followed by insufficient budget, unrealistic schedule, little support and a lack of resources forced me to develop the survival skill. You want what? When? Without a budget? Yeah, that is the job for me.

What thoughts have you given to the data you wish to collect? Have you created a wish list you are willing to share? I am going to start at the data end of the stick because with it you can report. No one will care about the data only the reporting. Unfortunately, asking for data that is not available to make a report will diminish the value of your system.

The data will also allow you to determine what the collector needs to be capable of. (i.e. capacity, conductivity, communication..)

    Hi Sean,

Thanks for your response. I just started the project concept and trying to develop step by step. The first part is of course to collect the data. (as you mentioned like the things inside the box). Once the data is collected, the next step to be tried is to stream it real-time to a cloud service either to Arduino IoT cloud or similar service (I am still searching for a viable option. Please do mention if you have any suggestions for the cloud). After the data is received, next plan is to analyse the data (ML should be used) at various levels to produce a viable user readable chart that shows the data as graph or chart information. I have to decide and develop some ML algorithm which I plan to run from the cloud service if possible to generate the required output data as visual readable information such as traffic flow, traffic route history etc. Once I have some considerable progress, I will keep on updating. Hardware availability is a big issue.

Now the stage is where I don't have all the components required. I ordered almost all that I would require, and patiently waiting for them to arrive to start the project. In the mean time, I am researching on the IOT and ML part.
Hope this clears your doubt image  Else, feel free to revert.

@john thanks for your support image

    Thanks,

    Cris

    Hi Cris,

This sounds like an interesting project and I look forward to seeing more of the details fleshed out. More details will perhaps answer some of Sean's concerns too. If you can actually make it I suspect we will all be getting speeding citations in the mail.

    John

    G'Day,

I'm confused regarding the post. Actually most times I am confused, so it may have nothing to do with this post.

Please help me to adjust my position so I can see the light from where I am at.

    A compact stand-alone system.....

......for Traffic Evaluation, Management and Monitoring.....

Correct me if I am wrong but it appears the focus of the post is to build one part of the system and that is a data collector that will upload to the cloud.

I'm critical of sales people that show me a project box that has a bulldozer on the front. I purchase the item to discover it only contains the parts for a bike. I have to purchase other kits to get to the bulldozer.

The project may be Traffic Management System(i.e. bulldozer on the box) but when I open it up, it appears I just looking at the data collector (i.e. the bike).

    Sean
