Automated Cable Test System .. part 3

28 Oct 2018

I got home on this past Friday evening, having a really bad day of "STUPID PEOPLE" at my VA Hospital in Dallas, and found a package outside my door. After I opened it I found a T-shirt, silver antistatic bag with something in it, batteries, and battery holder. Well after poking around in the bag I couldn't realize I got it for this entry. And after a while, the lights came on.

My VME rack system is still a ways away, so I will use this SBC to do the lifting by substituting TI 2x sixteen-bit i2C expanders PCF8575. By using the Micro Bit I can get my cable tester software up to speed. After quite a look around the net. I was very disappointed with the device lack of "friendliness" I sort of reminds me of why Lucas is referred as to "The King of Darkness", image and I do know from first-hand expertise with more than a handful of MGA/MGBs. Why do I call the bit un-friendly? You need a special socket for the bit to plug into (about $20.00 from eBay, yeah right for an $8.00 SBC).image You want to get on the internet, Nope, buy the wifi bob. One solution has come to mind though, is to drill theimage lands to accept headers, but currently, that is not an option as the lands are very small.image

Assess this mess will take some time. as I need fast two-way communications between my IOT (micro bit or VME rack). I will most likely use the built-in serial communication via the onboard USB connection.

This is like trying to do the impossible, but I will give it go, what do I haveThis is like trying to do the impossible, but I will give it go, what do I have to lose but sometime,  and while I'm waiting for Rotec to get back to me and fire up my VME test rack. and then the large rack which is berried. Oh well and time just marches along. ,  and while I'm waiting for Rotec to get back to me and fire up my VME test rack. and then the large rack which is berried.
