In 1978, Star Wars launched a musical science fiction television film set in the Star Wars galaxy.

It was on this special that the world was first introduced to Bobba Fett.

It was universally panned and never rebroadcast or released on film.

More Details coming Soon....

Just an idea, being a holiday special, whatever is built should be given away to someone in need. Bring a little joy to someone who is deserving. Dale

The holiday special will not be limited to Star Wars or Sci Fi. Working out the details now but the theme will be broad enough that you can make you can tailor the project around your interests. The theme…

I like SciFi in general, probably more of a Trekkie than Star Wars fan, but I like it all. However I'm not really a movie buff. (I go to fewer than one movie per year and obviously don't keep up very well) I had never heard of the Star Wars musical TV show until now.

In 1978 I think I still had a black and white TV with antenna (3 channels) so this show may not even have been available on my TV. Probably why this particular musical was obscure to me...

I never heard of the holiday special either, but I may have to look it up now that I'm curious......

It's a good idea that the E14 Holiday Special event not be limited to just a sci-fi theme.

This would be fair to all of the community who wish to participate. And it is a great time of year for any type of holiday themed project.

One can imagine that within this community, not all of the members celebrate  the same traditions and nerd out to the same films and television shows.

Star Trek was awesome. And quite successful.

I have always liked the original tv series.

Not as impressed with the "next generation" and other later variants.

The new Star Trek  films were okay. It is good to see the story revisited but I felt they could have done a better job with the script and cast selection. The actor that was cast as young Spock did alright but the actor that played the part of young Capt Kirk was a poor choice. Overall the new Star Trek films felt more like a futuristic version of  "Top Gun" than a Star Trek film.

This rivalry between Kirk and Spock as cadets in Star Fleet Academy kind of took over the storyline so much that I can't even remember who the bad guys were.

Unfortunately I will never know. It is not possible for me to watch any movie twice, even if it was good. Any time I have ever attempted to watch a movie a second time, I will immediately fall asleep. This is not within my control. My body just goes into a deep sleep that is difficult to be awaken from.

Working out the details now but the theme will be broad enough that you can make you can tailor the project around your interests.

The theme will revolve around any projects that are kitchy or retro inspired in honor of The Star Wars Holiday Special.

Some example projects:   A kitchy snow globe to warn you of inclement weather conditions, a corny voice activated ornament, a nonsensical holiday card that uses electronics, and something with lasers.

Let me know what you guys think!

Douglas, are you not a Star Wars fan?...........

I think Douglas was referring to the Christmas special: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Holiday_Special

It's obscure because it "...has never been rebroadcast or officially released on home video."
