What Path Did You Follow on Star Wars Day!

The fact that Star Wars is widely regarded as a modern myth is no accident.  George Lucas was inspired by Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces.  In it, Joseph Campbell expands on Jungian "archetypes" and uses them as a road map to understand all myth and religion.

According to Campbell, all these stories are expressions of the same story pattern which he referred to as the Hero's Journey.

The Hero's Journey gave George Lucas, whose space opera script was spiraling out of control, the necessary focus he needed to complete the story he was telling.

Today, the Hero's Journey, and the struggle between the light and the dark continues with the journeys of Rey and Ren taking up their respective mantles.

Do... or do not. There is no try. This is how I feel pushing through the final stages of my current project.

My path led me, 41 years after standing in line to watch the first Star Wars, to sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn, watching the last one with my 6yr old daughter. She's a big fan of Rey, even though she loves Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. I'm gonna have to keep an eye on her.

I'm not sure that particular path, but I did volunteer at the local Aerospace Museum for their Twilight Star Wars themed Open Cockpit night.  Seen a good mix of Rey's and Kylo Ren's though.

Oh, I loved that game.  I spent many a quarters playing that at the local arcade.  Very cool.

Can't wait to see what your macrobinoculars look like.

I began with the New Hope and the tech used in that movie still holds up today...
