How Op Amps Work -- The Learning Circuit 68

 

 

In this video, Karen presents and introduction of op amps how various ways they can be used in circuits. At a basic level, op amps are quite simple. They compare the voltages at their two outputs and use the difference in voltages to determine how the signal is amplified. The differential voltage at the inputs often needs to only be a few microvolts to generate an amplified signals. To be able to finely control the gain, a feedback loop must be created between the op amp’s output and one of the inputs. This loop usually contains a resistor and/or capacitor to have finer control of the gain.     That’s great feedback. For a long time I tried to do overview videos for a component or set of components and always wanted to fit so much information into each video that it does get overwhelming. A lot of my videos you do need to rewind and rewatch to catch everything. It’s feedback I’ve taken to heart. Starting with the next few videos, I’ve started slowing down a lot more and trying to focus on smaller subject areas. Not cramming in so much into a single video, but slowly and thoroughly covering a subject. Hopefully the pacing will feel better from here on it. Thanks for watching!

  • I enjoy the Learning Center very much. My issue in your teaching is not content but the fast rate if your actual talking. You talk much to fast for a subject inherently difficult to grasp if the teacher moves quickly. I’m not new to electronics but I’m returning after a long absence. I do have the discipline to sit and study your Essentials section and augment that with the lectures but again please slow down the speed. I find myself rewinding much to often. Thank you for your presentations, I enjoy them very much.

  • Tig welder repair. After i confirmed proper waveform at output in Ac and Dc... But no arc/start.....also no volt/amp isplay(8hexdecimal) Ive been investigsting the control board and about to test ic chips(op amps) for output signals...... Should check feeback circuit first?

  • Good introduction, but you need to go back and do a more detailed discussion on each of the various OpAmp circuits showing more detailed waveforms plus explain more of the terms.

     

    You just dumped several very important words into the discussion without really spending time to explain them in detail. You really should take the time to make sure that those ideas are well understood by the viewer.
