Fuses are current-sensitive devices designed to serve as the intentional weak link in an electrical or electronic circuit, by providing reliable protection for those circuits or discrete components under overcurrent or overload conditions. A variety of fuse types have been designed for printed circuit board mounting. The main types of PCB-mount fuses are through-hole, surface-mounted and resettable PCB fuses. Understanding the differences in performance between these types of fuses is important in order to choose the right device for the application.
