Looks like fun!  Do you know if there are engineering courses offered by the City of Colleges?

I second this... Engineering or Comp Sci. Would be great to knock off a course or two over the summer.

There are CS classes.  I took a Java course at Wright to fulfil a requirement while going to DeVry for electronics engineering (City Colleges were an incredible value ~$200 compared to DeVry $2,200 class).  Better yet, I noticed a fellow Linux laptop user in the class and we became friends and we later hired him here as a Unix admin

I'm hoping though that there will be some engineering classes like electronics.  There are classes listed in the course catalouge but I don't think they've been scheduled in a long time (understandable as electronics went by the wayside as software rose to prominence).

FORTRAN or C with emphasis in engineering and scientific programming languages such as FORTRAN and APT with emphasis on engineering problems encountered in design and manufacturing. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.

But I recall they weren't scheduled.  Ended up going to DeVry since I curious about electronics.

Actually the course description has not been updated. Over the years the programming language has changed from semester to semester. I haven't used FORTRAN to teach the course for over twenty years. When I wrote that description I had thought about using APT - but never did.  After FORTRAN we switched to ANSI C, followed by VB and then C++. For the past two years I have been using Javascript.  In fact you might want to look at some of the stuff we had been doing in that class:  http://faculty.ccc.edu/jnadas/js/why.htm

I was thinking that FORTRAN was somewhat archaic (but maybe not as archaic as the course descriptions I cited) this actually looks very interesting, so I'm going to ask the CompSci department head if they'd take the class for credit. Thanks for the link!
