imageIntroducing CodeBug!

image  What is CodeBug

image  10 CodeBug Projects in 10 Days

image  Are You a STEM Educator?

Introduction:

CodeBug is a little device that you can wear and learn to program. It has 25 LED lights in a 5-by-5 grid and two buttons for you to interact with.

CodeBug also has six ‘legs’ that can be used to connect croc-clips, banana plugs or even sewn to. These legs can be used as inputs or outputs and can even sense an electric current passing through (or generated by) your body.

On the back of CodeBug is a holder for a coin battery, for remote power. This means you can take CodeBug anywhere and even wear it on your clothes.

CodeBug is programmed using drag-and-drop blocks on the Create page. It's incredibly easy to make your first simple programs, and the CodeBug Activities page with show you everything you need to know.

image

You can see what CodeBug will do by using the emulator. You just click play and the emulator will behave exactly as CodeBug will when running your code.

image

You then download your program and upload it to your CodeBug. To get you started, follow the Getting started course which will show you everything you need to know to program your CodeBug and more!

We're sharing a CodeBug project AND giving one away for the next 10 days!

When I got my Codebug, I expected there would be a link given to a place where the hardware is described more closely and especially to see which Microchip processor is used here and what the complete circuit diagram is to understand how to use the extension connector. Where can I find this?? i assume that in addition to the dedicated function these have, there is a possibility to use then as general IO pins. And the way how to use them

There is a partial teardown here: http://www.element14.com/community/community/learning-center/codebug/blog/2015/09/17/codebug-partial-teardown

For now there is no official circuit diagram, see the comment #26 here for the official response from codebug: http://www.element14.com/community/message/161087#161087
