It's a decent list of kit that the CodeBug's up against in Electronics Weekly's readers' choice category, actually, including the Spectrum Vega and Pi-Top. But it's CodeBug all the way for me right now, natch image

Anyway, there it is -- if you also want to stand up and be counted in this quick-fire electronics race, here's your chance: http://www.electronicsweekly.com/blogs/electro-ramblings/general-electronics/elektra-2015-consumer-product-innovation-ye…

Looks like they finally came around to it, and have provided the bare minimum, a schematic in PDF format under a creative commons license which does not allow it to be used for commercial use, here (PDF…

I suspect they believe it is best to drag their heels on this probably till after Christmas revenue, but at what cost.

Better to do the right thing and honour their commitment as we all seem to agree.

Of the other products on the list (there are not many : ( I saw SAM at some product show earlier this year - looked interesting but I

    didn't examine in any detail.

The Pi-Top could be interesting but price (£190) for a screen, keyboard and battery seems excessive -

when an off-the-shelf 18" desktop monitor is available for under £70 these days. The Pi-Top has a 13.3" display - maybe some people prefer

the smaller size but personally I like large-screened laptops.

Especially when you could buy an ACTUAL laptop for less than that, throw Debian/Linux on that and have a much faster machine for your buck.

I hadn't looked at the full short list until just now - I can only conclude that the the editor of EW is in fact a Zombie from another planet - what a totally dismal list !

I'm going to make my own nomination of the Amzon Fire TV Stick ( aka FireStick) - actually first released November 19 2014 but I think that still counts.
