Introduce Yourselves!

The great part about E14 is that the community is great, and you can make some great connections. With that in mind it may help to introduce yourself to the group, and so I've thought up a couple questions that might aid in some of those connections.

 

  • Name and Locale?
  • Type of employment (Elementary, Secondary, Collegiate, Student, Enginering)?
  • What have you used the Rpi for (or what do you plan to use it for)?
  • What is your biggest goal you have for your Rpi, or what do you want to use it for, but might not have the skills for yet?

  • I'm Andrew!

     

    I teach at the secondary level, at a selective enrollment magnet high school in the Chicago Public Schools.

     

    I had a team of students compete in the Chicago Maker Challenge and they used a Raspberry Pi as the base for their design because it was all ready to communicate with their GPS module (via USB-TTL connection) and could put their data in local storage and potentially send it to a web database.

     

    I'm still looking into how much students can get out of a Pi vs the Arduino (which they find very interesting and works at the right level for many of them).

     

    Goal: build more interesting stuff!
