Hi,
Today I embraced the little bit of free time to get to work on my sheet sorter machine.
The goal was to embed the camera and the raspberry onto the paper feeding assembly.
So I went and started making holes and screwing down things.
Then I needed to chop a piece of wood.
This chop saw rips through the wood with no effort. My dad has great woodworking tool but no soldering iron (unbelievable).
Okay now that the layout of the wood is done I needed to figure out how to mount the raspberry and the camera onto the beast.
I used the slotted holes at the bottom of the case which came with the raspberry to keep it in place.
Unfortunately I didn't found any small enough screws to mount the camera.
So I needed to get creative here...
So what I ended up doing was to squeeze the camera assembly between a plastic flat stock and two plastic washers.
It works even better than what I expected.
So the final system (prototype) looks like that.
I hope you enjoyed this little post about my afternoon DIY session.
It is a bit crude but I am really running out of time... and I can't figure out how to control a servo motor from my raspberry without having it reducing dramatically my video feed frame rate, which needs to run at the tremendous 60 fps in order to capture accurately the dots on the sheets.
So yeah my project was maybe a bit ambitious.
I am in the process of making a little video, will be online soon.
See you next time.
