Getting started with matlab and a webcam

So I started doing some stuff with a webcam and want to get into the image processing part of the project pretty quick. After digging around on mathworks.com I was able to peace together some code and get some images off my webcam. It wasn't actually too hard and the code is pretty straight forward once you know which library's to use.image

Here is the code I used:

preview(cam); % Lets see what the camera can see

    I have thought about that. Matlab is a great tool to get to the image processing faster. Eventually I would like to have a android or apple device do the processing locally and not need a separate computer in the loop. Matlab will help get the algorithms down in a manageable amount of time. I have heard a lot about Open CV, but haven't had a lot of luck lately. I need to sit down and put some time into it. Thanks for the comment!
