Teacher's Pet Raspberry Pi kit - Blog 1 (Blinking LED/Getting Started)

Hi everyone this is Madhu Govindarajan from MathWorks. Congrats to all those who have been selected as the finalists for Teacher's Pet Students' Robotics Challenge. This is the first blog in a series which will provide you with resources to get started with MathWorks tools and the Raspberry Pi kit for the road test.

Here is a link to the step-by-step tutorial that helps you install MATLAB and Simulink support package for Raspberry Pi. Once you have installed the software, the following videos will assist you in blinking the on-board LED (equivalent to Hello World while learning new software).

Using MATLAB Support package for Raspberry Pi, one can configure the Pi and then use it to either acquire sensor data or send commands to different actuators (while being tethered to the computer). The acquired data can then be processed and visualized in MATLAB where in one can also take advantage of other toolboxes that are made available.

On the other hand, Simulink support package can be used to deploy your algorithms on to the Raspberry Pi (stand-alone applications) and/or tune parameters while the code is still running on the Raspberry Pi.

To follow along with the videos, all the files that will be needed to blink the on-board LED using MATLAB and Simulink are provided here.

In the video titled ' Using Simulink to Program Raspberry Pi for Image inversion', only a small section (0:47 seconds to 2:17 seconds) is about blinking LED.

Feel free to suggest improvements on the tutorial and the videos.
