The Raspberry Pi has instigated a revolution in computing and electronics engineering. However, it's original purpose was and remains education: thanks to the Raspberry Pi, students have the opportunity to learn coding and engineering skills which can open up a world of invention to them.
Element14 is fully committed to this mission; on November 17, we, in collaboration with our Premier Farnell partners MCM Electronics and CPC, are launching the Pi Educators' RoadTest.
We will be making available to educators (located in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland) a Pi Camera Kit. This kit contains –
1) Raspberry Pi Model B+ Board
2) 8GB Operating System microSD Card
3) Multicomp Clear B+ Case
4) Raspberry Pi Wi-Pi wireless ethernet adapter
5) Raspberry Pi Power Supply
6) Pi Camera
7) 36-Page Raspberry Pi User Guide
This kit will enable any class to get to grips with exciting, simple, yet fun Pi Projects. Some leading examples are the Raspberry Pi Slow Scan Camera which was featured in Make Magazine. The Pi Camera has even reached for the stars via a project entitled "Pi in the Sky". As these implementations show, the only real limit to Pi’s capabilities is the imagination.
We are pleased to also announced that this RoadTest is a RoadTest Plus: educators and their students not only have the opportunity to work with leading-edge technology, they'll also have the chance to win a 3D printer (worth $600) for their institution. All the testers need to do is to submit three blogs to the STEM Academy group about their projects (in addition to a review of the kit) by January 30, 2015. The best entry, as judged by element14, CPC and MCM, will be the winner.
So join this exciting RoadTest today!
Please note that this roadtest is only available to people in the UK, Eire, US, Canada.
