Sci-fi movies are eye candy that simply doesn’t exist, but sometimes technology has a way of bringing futuristic movie fantasy into the real world. If technology could transform our modern cities into something that looked like the TRON world, I think that would be a lot of fun. Chances are my wish will never come true. Art has the ability to give a slice of what fashion might look like if that movie fantasy became societal norm.
Illuminating her black ruffled sundress, single LEDs lighting from underneath, outlined with EL wire and illuminated by a long strip of glowing trim, the dress appears to have function (power). It turns her outfit into some sort of futuristic cyborg going to the prom. In the back hangs a removable heart lined with more EL wire and cool light LEDs. It seems there is a 9V battery under the toes of those light up high heels and I suspect similar batteries hidden throughout.
The circuit-like geometric design is actually homage to the character Quorra from the move TRON: Legacy. It was the brainchild of cosplayer Scruffy Rebel. If not cities, fashion certainly looks really good when it’s TRONed out.
