Receive mood updates from your baby via SMS? Pop up balloon alerting you to your baby's temperature on a PC? Get an email if your baby is moving?
All this is possible with the Exmobaby biosensor laden baby pajama, designed by Exmovere Holdings. A contactless electrocardiogram (ECG) monitors the heart rate. Skin temperature and moisture are also sensed. (Get a txt when it is time for a change?) The system takes a sample of all the sensors every minute. With a single onboard AAA battery, communication continues for up to eight hours.
A Zigbee wireless setup handles all the data transmission. A Zigbee adapter is connected to the user's PC. From there the data is handled either on the computer, or disseminated to their mobile devices via the internet.
The company assures us that no radiation effects will be induced by having a Zigbee radio strapped to the baby's chest. However, if that is an issue for some, a fiber-optic display will be incorporated in future versions of the Exmobaby.
Based on all the sensor's readings, a "guesstimate" is made on the baby's mood. Future updates are likely to occur.
Exmovere is accepting up to 1,000 orders for the Exmobaby as part of a demonstration for potential distributors. Feeling entrepreneurial? Then check out their site for details.
