From Photon-X Inc, instant facial recognition at a distance is a reality. In one camera picture the system can create a 3D image of a person's face and identify them with the person's "distinctive bio-signature." With further scanning the un-named device can map each person's unique facial structures, muscles, and behaviors into a "behaviormetric profile" which can allow for a more accurate identification. Photon-X states that the system is not just limited to the face, but also body posture, walking gate, micro-expressions, hands/palm geometry, and even fingerprints. The maximum distance of Photon-X's device has not been stated, but it is meant for robotic reconnaissance and public/private monitoring. This is the result of a contract project for the U.S. Air Force. I would not be surprised if the tech gets added to satellites. On a fun research side of things, this system can also help robots navigate and find objects in a cluttered room. So, it is not just to watch everyone's every move.
