Remaining healthy, active, and enjoying life can have a lot to do with how your feet feel. Aetrex put together a development team consisting of top footwear designers, certified pedorthists, web developers, computer hardware engineers, and software engineers to create what would be the most revolutionary digital foot scanning device to date. The system is designed for footwear retailers and professionals to determine a consumers foot size, arch type, and pressure points in less than 30 seconds.

The system works by using 3,744 gold plated barometric sensors separated by 0.25 cm which measure the pressure exerted by your feet. In addition, the system also features 1,326 infrared LEDs and receptors every half millimeter to assist in the reading and increase accuracy. As a result, the pressure reading is extremely precise, even for small people. While viewing an image, users have the choice to view it in either two dimensions or three dimensions and testing can be done in a static or dynamic format.

iStep allows the whole system to be wireless. Using Aetrex's 360 degree wireless technology, scanned images can be displayed to a monitor or to a hand held device such as an iPod touch. Additionally, the images can be sent to customers through e-mail or multimedia messaging. The system gives any appropriate business the opportunity to utilize the latest hi-tech system in their field and provide their customers with a custom fit shoe specific to their feet. iStep will help better evaluate each customer's own personal needs while letting businesses take advantage of the latest cutting edge technology.
