CadSoft Computer participated at OHM 2013 in early August. The 5 day festival is one of Europe’s most popular hackers and makers events and took place in the Netherlands, north of Amsterdam.
CadSoft appeared as a sponsor of the event and was represented by André Schmeets, one of Farnell element14’s EAGLE experts, who ran two lectures about CadSoft’s EAGLE software throughout the event.
He commented: “Participating at Ohm was a great experience: 3.000 participants in a tent city where all sessions, lectures and discussions took place. The relaxed atmosphere is fascinating, with a few tents even providing soldering kits for everyone to sit down and work. The hacker and maker scene is becoming increasingly popular and this provides a lot of exciting opportunities for companies like CadSoft.”
Thomas Liratsch, Managing Director of CadSoft, explained what it meant to take part: “PCB design plays an important role in the hacker and makers environment. Our EAGLE software is the perfect tool for hobbyists due to its ease of use and cost effectiveness. For many years we have identified the maker scene as one of our key target groups – a long time before ‘makers’ were even becoming trendy. This year, we had an experienced expert at OHM 2013 who led a series of lectures and workshops to demonstrate the software’s capability. This was a fantastic opportunity to share our product with so many people.”
