A cold Euro in a pocket, a little worse for wear after years of being callously handled, floats through lives no different than 3rd century Roman coins of the past (the former European Union). The Royal Dutch Mint now brings 20/21st century requirements to fully use their new Euro coins in celebration of the mint's centennial. On the back of the 5€ and 10€ coins are QR (Quick Response) codes, or 2D scannable codes. Like scanning any other QR code, a related website will pop up. In this case it will direct to this website. Further information about the coin, there 100th anniversary of the Royal Dutch Mint, and the construction of the Mint building in Utrecht will be available. Although it is real currency, the issue is limited to 2,011 pieces to represent the year. It is packed specially, and advertised as "Unique Collectible," so the euros are clearly geared towards collectors interested in Dutch coinage. Limit, one per person. Available June 22nd in the lobby of the Money Museum at the Royal Dutch Mint.
