High-definition (HD) audio connectors could form the final link in telepresence systems that allows them to live up to their full potential.
A report from technology analyst WinterGreen Research highlights the HD capabilities of modern telepresence systems - both visual and audible - as an important part of their value proposition.
Susan Eustis, author of the study, entitled Telepresence Market Shares and Forecasts, Worldwide, 2010-2016, says: "The bigger screens, the audio clarity, the visual clarity of telepresence are compelling.
"The technology components are positioned to work together to provide a more lifelike communication experience."
A part of this is thanks to cinematic displays of up to 16 feet in height, but also includes HD sound, for which compatible audio connectors and speaker systems may be required.
The analyst recently stressed the importance of collaborative working on documents to enhance office productivity - but added that workers must also have the ability to carry out tasks when no internet connection is available.
