A leading imaging innovator is celebrating after receiving an industry accolade for its work the field of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).
Frost & Sullivan has bestowed its 2009 Award for OLED Lighting Enabling Technology of the Year on Kodak in recognition of its achievements in driving it into the lighting space.
Kodak has stated that it aims to enable the OLED SSL and flat panel industries through improved materials, advanced OLED architecture development and innovative manufacturing processes.
Sharmishta Subramanian, research analyst at Frost and Sullivan, said the company has made several recent advances in manufacturing OLED devices with efficacies of over 60 lumens per watt.
"Kodak's mission is to advance the OLED lighting industry worldwide and has plans of collaborating with other companies and participating in joint industry projects," she added.
A $1.7 million (£1.06 million) contract to further develop OLED lighting technology was recently awarded to Kodak by the US Department of Energy.
