EpiSensor and IBM have revealed that they are forming a new partnership to work on the development of real-time monitoring solutions.
Under the agreement, the Irish wireless network sensor specialist will work with the electronics giant at IBM's Environmental Solutions Centre of Excellence in Dublin to create devices that gather information about energy, water and carbon emissions, Smartmeter.com reports.
Gary Carroll, EpiSensor chairman, said: "IBM's expertise in research, developing software and networking applications in complex enterprise environments will boost our ability to bring turnkey solutions to the market more quickly."
A recent collaboration between EpiSensor and the Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) involved the use of temperature sensors in the Antarctic, which relayed information back to the expedition base using the ZigBee protocol.
Headquartered in Limerick, EpiSensor is a leading developer of technology based on ZigBee protocols, which enables devices to communicate wirelessly with low energy consumption and maintenance costs.
