Newport's spectra-physics lasers division has introduced its first industrial fibre laser product.
The 100W infrared Alliant Fiber Laser has been developed with Newport's experience in diode laser technology, featuring high single-mode beam quality and wall-plug efficiency delivering maximum power at the smallest focused spot.
Scott White, senior manager of product marketing at Newport's spectra-physics lasers division said the product was designed following requests from OEMs and industrial systems integrators.
"We are excited to commence production of the Alliant 100W as our first in a series of fibre laser products to meet our customers' high expectations," he commented.
The product will be on display at the company's booth at the Laser World of Photonics, due to run in Munich between June 15th and 18th.
Also featured at the event will be a focus topic, called Lasers in Photovoltaics Manufacturing, which will examine the future possibilities of using laser technology to supply energy through solar power.
