Four new switch components specifically designed for smaller WiFi market applications have been unveiled by RF Micro Devices (RFMD).
The new switch/LNA products have been designed with small products in mind, including cellular handsets, personal navigation devices, digital cameras and MP3 players.
Each of the new components contains a single-pole, three-throw switch designed to enable multi-path operation.
The RF5510 and RF5511 components also incorporate a low noise amplifier, which providers a reduced footprint area.
Rohan Houlden, general manager of RFMD's Wireless Connectivity Business Unit, said that the new products had been developed to "address the growing opportunities in WiFi-enabled mobile devices".
He explained: "This new family of products delivers a flexible, size-reduced solution to customers seeking to enhance the RF performance of 2.4 GHz consumer and general market products."
Last month, RFMD told investors that higher-margin product sales are becoming an increasing percentage of the company's total revenue.
