A new valve position sensor has been designed to function in remote or potentially dangerous areas of a processing facility.
The new XYR 6000 sensor technology from Honeywell is based on the Micro Switch CX.
It monitors the position of the system valve, carrying out hazardous location certifications.
It can be used in safety shower and eye bath notification, tank overflow alarms and to establish door and gate position.
When used as part of a safety shower notification system, it can be used as an emergency response trigger.
Jeff Becker, global wireless business director at Honeywell Process Solutions, explained that the new sensor has "tangible benefits".
He said: "Incorporating OneWireless connectivity helps our customers benefit from increased safety and efficiencies provided by these technologies.
"This new sensor eliminates the need for manual monitoring, which can provide tangible benefits for our customers when they apply them in the plant's most hazardous and remote areas."
The company recently released an enhanced version of its plant process simulation software.
