Murata Manufacturing is set to acquire the polymer capacitor business of Showa Denko KK by the end of the year.
The electronic parts manufacturer Murata has been expanding its product range across its passives lines, where it already has a strong global sales channel.
The decision to purchase Showa Denko is to support the expansion of Murata's capacitor product lines.
Murata will be promoting functional capacitors produced with the polymer capacitor company through its customer network.
Showa Denko's diversified group of manufacturing companies also specialise in petrochemicals, inorganic materials, aluminium, hard disk and other electronics businesses.
The purchase, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, will allow Showa Denko to concentrate on its strategically selected areas of manufacturing.
Murata does not anticipate that the acquisition will affect its consolidated business performance in a significant way.
The company recently revised its financial results for the year ending March 31st, amending the annual cash dividends payout.
