A new solution for keeping LED bulbs cool has been developed by Los Angeles-based firm Eternaleds.
The HydraLux-4 is the world's first LED light bulb to use liquid-cooling technology to maintain a high-quality appearance while providing the other benefits of the technology, such as long life and energy-efficiency.
Jeff Chan, founder of Eternaleds, commented: "Most other LED globe shaped bulbs use metal or fans to surround the bulbs to keep the components inside cool.
"This is the first LED light bulb to give true 360 degree light and really opens up applications that people can replace with LED lighting," he added.
The HydraLux-4 is available in two colours and is fully dimmable, as well as being cool to the touch.
It is also one of the few bulbs of its type on the market which is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Eternaleds last year launched an LED lighting blog which focuses on the environmental benefits of the technology.
