A new capacitive touchscreen sensor has been launched by Synaptics, featuring the company's leading ClearPad sensing technology.
The ClearPad 1000 series is targeted at developers of mass-market mobile handsets and other handheld devices, allowing them to integrate high-resolution touchscreens with basic gesture capability into their products.
Offering high levels of performance, accuracy, design flexibility and reliability, the ClearPad 1000 series supports single-finger gestures such as double taps, slides, presses and flicks.
Tom Tiernan, president of Synaptics, said the firm's range of touchscreen solutions go beyond standalone chip offerings.
"Our ClearPad 1000 Series brings our value to the mass market, and creates the opportunity for our capacitive touch technology to reach worldwide markets through the wave of mobile expansion occurring in BRIC and other emerging regions," he commented.
Synaptics technology was recently selected by GN Netcom for the scrolling interface on its Jabra GO 6400 professional Bluetooth headset.
