New technology which integrates LEDs into fingerprint sensors has been unveiled by UPEK, a business leader in biometric solutions.
The sensor technology creates a smart touch interface capable of recognising unique individuals and differentiating between authorised and unauthorised users.
Integration of UPEK's TouchLight system into sensor packaging is said to simplify mechanical integration for manufacturers who want to add LED-based feedback to their electronic devices.
Vito Fabbrizio, senior director of OEM marketing at UPEK, said the new sensor experience is more intuitive and interactive.
"We've made it easy for PC OEMs to incorporate LEDs by integrating them directly into the sensor package while also giving them the flexibility to design with external LEDs," he added.
The TouchLight integrated LED technology will be demonstrated at the Computex Trade Show in Taipei, Taiwan.
Due to begin on June 2nd, the Computex Trade Show will feature the latest developments in mobile design, memory storage and green technology.
