OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has announced an expansion to its LED portfolio for the projection market.
The OSTAR Compact product is designed for application in small handheld systems such as mobile phones, while OSTAR Power Projection is targeted at home cinema systems with displays of 70 inches or more.
OSTAR Compact measures just 3.9mm x 3.6 mm and is available in red, blue, green and white, using small LEDs as cost-effective components for pico projectors.
Meanwhile, the OSTAR Power Projection LED can be operated at a maximum of 36A and features a thermal resistance of just 0.77 K/W.
"LEDs will one day become the standard for all projection applications, including high-end applications," commented Wolfgang Schnabel, marketing manager for LED projection at OSRAM.
The firm recently unveiled the smallest member of its RGB Multi ChipLED family of multicolour LEDs, which enables high-resolution vision screens to offer brilliant colours and high contrast from all viewing angles.
