LED light engine manufacturer OptoElectronix has announced a five-year warranty on its entire line of LED Universal Light Engine products.
The light engines provide full plug-and-play functionality to allow designers to incorporate solid-state lighting into a range of new and existing luminaires.
As well as the LED, the engines consist of a thermal network, optics, the electronic driving system and a full range of control functions.
OptoElectronix's warranty is based on the inherently durable and reliable nature of LED technology, although the firm points out that achieving a long lifetime performance requires careful design and testing of the electronic power and control systems.
The firm expects the solid-state lighting light engine market – which includes LEDs, thermal network, power drive circuitry and optics – to reach approximately $5.516 billion (£3.297 billion) by 2012.
In April OptoElectronix announced a first in LED illumination with the release of its 180-degree LED floodlights.
