Two new green lasers for application in the life sciences have been introduced by California-based laser firm Coherent.
The Genesis CW green lasers offer a combination of low noise – less than 0.1 per cent rms – and high mode quality.
Available in two models, the Genesis 532-1000 S lasers produce over one watt of output power, while the genesis 532-500 S delivers over 0.5 watts, while both lasers are air-cooled, can be directly modulated and are available in OEM packaging.
The products are based on Coherent's patented optically pumped semiconductor laser technology, combining high reliability with compact packaging.
Genesis lasers already enjoy wide application in the life sciences, primarily in fluorescence-based bioinstrumentation markets, including DNA sequencing and high throughput flow cytrometry.
Coherent's Mamba Green was released last month as a frequency-doubled, diode-pumped solid-state laser offering high output power, excellent reliability and low cost of ownership for a variety of materials processing applications.
