Smart fingerprint solution provider Authentec has announced a new family of smart sensor hardware and software solutions aimed at consumer notebook PCs and netbooks.
Including the first product in a new line of multi-function fingerprint sensors incorporating LED drivers, lighted LED packaging options and the new TrueSuite PC client application software, the solution has been optimised specifically for use with Microsoft Windows 7.
The sensor's programmable LED drivers support 24-bit resolution, or 16 million colour options, giving flexibility to PC manufacturers to use fading, blinking and colour control options.
Scott Moody, chairman and chief executive officer of AuthenTec, said the range "is the first of several new initiatives to enhance the user experience and drive utilisation of the many benefits of our smart sensor technology among consumers."
Authentec's TrueSuite consumer PC application was unveiled last month as a way to make fingerprint-enabled PCs simpler to operate and expand user customisation.
