LED component provider Future Lighting Solutions has announced new capabilities to support design engineers in creating high Colour Rendering Index (CRI) tuneable white applications.
The firm has patent-pending intellectual property that provides the knowledge, tools and technologies to optimally choose three or more LEDs as well as their respective light current and dimming ratios to meet high DRI design requirements.
Several businesses in the general, medical and retail display lighting sectors are already taking advantage of these capabilities, according to Future Lighting Solutions.
"Until now, the solid state lighting industry has typically leveraged red, green and blue LEDs with the optional addition of white or amber LEDs to develop tuneable white applications," said Patrick Durand, worldwide technical director for the firm.
"These approaches generate low CRI and low efficacy LED lighting systems."
Future Lighting Solutions recently provided engineering support to the installation of solid-state LED floodlights in Tokyo's Chidorigafuchi Park.
