A new high-brightness LED driver featuring temperature management control has been announced by National Semiconductor.
The LM3424MH/NOPBLM3424MH/NOPB is a member of the firm's PowerWise family of energy-efficient products and drives high-brightness LEDs in a variety of applications, including indoor, outdoor and automotive.
It is also supported in National Semiconductor's WEBENCH LED Designer and the firm says its temperature management control, thermal foldback, enables lighting designers to quickly and easily design a reliable thermal system.
The thermal foldback system combats the high temperatures LEDs can face by allowing designers to programme temperature and slope breakpoints to allow the circuitry to dim until it returns to a safe operating temperature.
As well as maintaining the lifetime and efficacy of the LED, the system ensures the warranty period in applications such as automotive headlights and street lighting.
National Semiconductor will host its annual shareholder and analyst meeting on September 25th in Santa Clara, California.
