Beth Torrey, event director of the Sensors Expo & Conference, made her comments ahead of the next edition of the event, which is set to take place between June 7th and 9th 2010 in Illinois.
She stated that witnessing the growth of the commercial sensors sector is "exciting" and noted that advances in technology are the main drivers behind the development.
"The capabilities of and applications for sensors and sensing-related technologies continue to proliferate," Ms Torrey added, stating that the 2010 edition of the show will reflect the growing number of applications that sensors have.
Earlier this month, industry analyst NanoMarkets predicted that growth in demand will result in expansion of the printed and large-scale sensor market in coming years, with revenues set to rise rapidly.
