Changchun National Optoelectronics Industry Base Development and the Renesas Technology Corporation have conducted a test of the first commercial intelligent transportation system (ITS) on public buses in China.
A verification test implementing Wave technology was carried out using terminals located in three public buses, eight bus stops and a main road junction linking Changchun station with the city's municipal government.
This news comes after a number of efforts to promote ITS verification testing were undertaken across the world in a bid to implement the technology in a more practical manner.
Renesas reported: "Wave can implement in real time the high-speed/high-capacity communication required for image transmission and is regarded as the next-generation wireless technology capable of supporting car-to-car and road-to-car connections."
Meanwhile, optoelectronics specialist Giovanni Fanchini was recently appointed at the University of Western Ontario as the institution's tier two Canada research chair in carbon-based nanomaterials and nano-optoelectronics.
