LEDs are one of the most sustainable options for ambient and effect lighting, according to one industry expert.
Mike Lloyd, managing director of UK-based lighting specialist ML Electronics, said that his electronic product design firm is passionate about making the lighting sector more eco-friendly.
His comments follow the unveiling of the company's new low-cost two-wire LED lighting control system design, which can be operated from an iPhone as well as a computer.
"By implementing a control system using only two wires, we've simplified the installation and reduced the amount of material required. Adding an iPhone app to control the lighting is a fun extra feature," stated Mr Lloyd.
He added that despite the ubiquity of power line control, implementing it on a low-voltage DC feed can be difficult.
This news comes after a study conducted by thin-form supercapacitor developer CAP-XX recently revealed that in mobile phone cameras, LEDs provide more light energy than other power sources.
